5th May Sami Kanerva (FI), Senior Principal Engineer, ABB Marine and Ports presented the company’s interest for giving the student a Case Assignment by the company ABB was “The Use of Hydrogen in Shipping”.
The first runner up of the #IHCup2021 project competition was WASALINE and the Student Team VENDACE with VARUNKUMAR PRATHAPAM SRINIVASAN (IN), NANNO JANSSEN (DE), JONATAN MENDOZA (PE), HUYEN PHAN (VN), MARI SIILIVASK (EE), and NIKLAS WESTIN (FI). The team had two mentors, FRANK KHO (HK, NL), FERDOUS ALAM PATWARY (PK). CASE ASSIGNMENT AND THE RUNNER UP TEAM PRESENTATION 5th May TONY EHRS (FI), Director, Cargo at Wasaline and JENNIE HINZ (FI), Business Development Manager at Wasaline presented the company’s interest for giving the student a Case Assignment by the company WASLINE was “Digitally from Shore to the Sea - Supply Chain Optimisation by Digitalising the Port Operations”.
The Finals of the 7th IntelligenceHunt project was held in conjunction with Messe München transport logistic 2021, online Conference Programme, May 5-6th, 2021. We had nine case companies and nine student teams competing. The theme of the project competition was "Responsible, Resilient and Innovative Supply Chain".
The winner of the project competition was Talent Team RAUMA´S DECARBONIZERS with AHMED HASSAN (EG), Team Leader, Aalto University, Finland, XIAOHAN GU(CN), Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, MARIIA KHRAPYTSKA (UA), Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University, Ukraina, ANKITA NAYAK (IN), Aalto University, Finland and NSEOBONG UMOH (NG), Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden with the case assignment "Decarbonizing Shortsea Shipping" by Rauma Marine Constructions.
The award for the team Rauma´s Decarbonizers is six months tailored individual career mentoring programme, and 500 € /team member. They all will be chosen as Finalists for the next intelligence hunt, if they wish to join. They will also be speakers of the Intelligence Hunt 9 Finals at the Navigate2022 Maritime Trade Exhibition, Turku, June 1-2, 2022.
The first Runner-up of the project competition was Talent Team LONEGATE ASHITOSH PALKAR (IN), Team Leader, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, LUCAS OPOKA (PL), Aalto University, Finland, MARI SIILIVASK (EE), TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy, Estonia, ELIZABETH SOZINOVA (UA), Odessa National Maritime University, Ukraina and JOHANN YOUNG (USA/FI), Aalto University, Finland has been working on the case assignment under the supervision of their Team Mentor FRANK KHO (HK).
The Finals of the 8th IntelligenceHunt project was held online January 26-27th, 2022.
January 26th, the Case Companies presented the case assignments and Talent Teams presented their solutions. January 27th we heard about the strategies behind the case assignments by the Corporate Case Company Speakers and the day ended with the Award Ceremony.
This time we had seven international, cross-faculty talent teams and seven case companies competing.

The Talent Team NEWTON with Andrei Morariu, Team Leader, Åbo Akademi University, Mahesh Amberkar, University of Strathclyde, Vladislav Balashov, Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences, Ahmed Elhadi, Aboa Mare - Novia University of Applied Sciences, Jesse Jackson, Strathclyde University and Gilnela Jalonen, Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, won the competition. Their case assignment was "Lifecycle Emissions of a Cruise Ship – Improving by Constantly Adapting the Latest Technology” by the case companies Meyer Turku and Wärtsilä Voyage. Congratulations!
The Finals of the 9th edition of a talent scouting and innovation programme, Intelligence Hunt, took place June 1-2, 2022 in conjunction with the Navigate2022 Maritime and Shipping Trade Exhibition. The programme consisted of Inspiring Speakers, Case Companies and Talent Teams presentations. The theme of the 9th Intelligence Hunt project was "Our Sustainable Future".
This time we had seven international, cross-faculty talent teams and ten case companies competing.

This time the Intelligence Hunt talent show took place in conjunction with the SeaFocus ESG Summit October 4.-5th, 2023. Five teams of talented students and their mentors together with the case company representatives presented the case assignments and their findings. The case assignments were given by Inmarsat, Euromar, Gasum, Hillebrand Gori DHL Company, Finnpilot Pilotage Ltd, Fintraffic´s Vessel Traffic Services, Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency and Finnish Transport and Communication Agency, Traficom.
Insights into Safety Trends at a Local and Global Level
Inmarsat case was about examining data from Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) calls made to Inmarsat in order to provide insights into safety trends and reveal patterns at a local and global level. A better understanding of these patterns can help the maritime industry take proactive steps to prevent such incidents and help guide us to a safer future.

New Maritime Safety Training Centre for Hotel and Catering Crew to Madeira
EUROMAR project was about establishing a new service crew maritime safety training centre in Madeira for cruise and Ropax vessels. The idea was to create a feasible, realistic and future looking business plan for the service crew maritime safety training centre to Madeira. Highly skilled students with marketing and economical background were working with the experts of EUROMAR and SeaFocus on the business plan to support Madeira as a potential future location for working, studying and living.

Improving the Usage of Fairway Data for Different Users
Case assignment of Finnpilot Pilotage Ltd, Fintraffic´s Vessel Traffic Services, Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency and Finnish Transport and Communication Agency, Traficom was “Improving the Usage of Fairway Data for Different Users” and focuses in commercial and recreational fairways as well as in new technologies. This case assignment focused on investigation possibilities to improve the utilization of digital information from the fairways; static and changing information by different user groups and stakeholders, to identify additional services possible to create from the collected / available data and to identify new users and user groups.

The Gasum´s Case assignment was about the future of LNG, bio-LNG and e-LNG. Today Gasum is a leading LNG and bio-LNG bunkering company in the Baltic Sea and North Sea area.
By engaging students in this project, Gasum was looking for fresh ideas for developing a future bunker market offering. As a leading LNG bunker market player in Northern Europe, Gasum has a profound interest in developing future talent for the maritime market by offering students an opportunity to learn about maritime emission reduction alternatives and future maritime fuels and get their views on future success factors.
