“For thousands of years, wind was the primary energy source used to propel ships, apart from manpower. Today, wind-assisted propulsion is understood to be a potential method of reducing the fossil-fuel-based energy consumption of ships. Wind is an inexhaustible source of energy, therefore we chose the following topic for our student team “Wind propulsion’s potential for decarbonising modern shipping”, says Anders Mikkelsen, Business Development Manager, DNV GL. The idea is to investigate barriers that currently prevent the further development and uptake of wind propulsion technologies for ships.
Exciting day today! We started to work on the #IHCup2021TransportLogistic programmes, Semifinals April 8 and Finals May 5 and 6.
At the Semifinals both, case companies and student teams, will present. The Semifinals will be streamlined for SeaFocus stakeholders.
At the Finals first day is for case companies to present and the second day for the student teams. The Jury will be evaluating the student teams works and the day ends with the Award Ceremony. These two events will be streamlined widely via Messe München transport logistic online conference.
We had a lovely online meeting with our amazing student mentors Ali Abdellaoui, Julia Breidenbend, Daniil Furman, Jasmin Kaseva, Annabel Keerd, Ayodele Makinde, Phat Nguyen, Ferdous Alam Patwary and Valeriaa Poberezhnaya.
The task of the student mentors is to give good advice to the teams competing as they already have the experience for participating the IntelligenceHunt projects earlier.
Talented and smart young!
“The digital world is changing rapidly: e.g. new technologies, mobile working, social media and the behaviour of digital natives are offering new possibilities for customers, suppliers and forwarders to collaborate. We must have our finger on the pulse of our customers and their businesses, and this is why our case at this company and student competition is called “Supply Chain Management and the Digital Collaboration of Tomorrow”, says Sebastian Pohl, Vice President, Online Solutions, Kuehne+Nagel.
"Rauanheimo´s aim is to always create efficient supply chains and develop our services from an overall perspective.
