Read his article "Institutionalising Sanctions-Global Political & Competition Tool".
We do believe that sanctions are necessary and well justified in certain cases. They are appropriate to use against a dictator, an authoritarian rule, a human rights offender, a corrupt politician, a civil society oppressor, a genocidal regime, etc. Sanctions should carefully target only those directly responsible for the acts of bad will, and should not affect non-offending persons. Sanctions should not disturb international and local businesses and should not result in unjustified losses and expenses.

Read his article "Maritime GHG Goals – Do We Know Where We Are Heading?"
It is likely that the IMO system will demand equal efficiency improvement for all ships alike, but is this really the optimal way? Improving every ship a little, is that better than improving fewer ships a lot. I would claim it is not. Resources are limited and the big steps in de-carbonizing will cost time and money, but we need someone to pioneer these initiatives, many however cannot take on the big risky projects while simultaneously spend time and money on a number of smaller initiatives on other ships to reach the mandatory - ship specific KPI targets.
The programme of #SFAEM2020 Part II finalised.
Hybrid high technology conference with live streaming.
Speakers from Finland, UK, Portugal, Sweden, Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Russia, of which 5 on stage, and the rest online. Audience will be high level shipping and supply chain industry professionals and executives in the conference in Helsinki.

Read his article "The Future of Transportation"
With shipping being the slowest mode of transport, as well as the least transparent one, due to its international coverage, it is very hard to talk of a cost- and time- efficient, seamless door-to-door transport. Inefficient manual paper-based documentation flow, truck delays and time spent in search for an efficient shipping solution, let alone corruption of the conservative and non-transparent industry, all effect the the final price of goods the end consumer has to pay for.

Read his article "Sustainability and Stability – Now Needed More Than Ever".
This extraordinary situation serves as an acid test for the supply chains: who can be trusted, who can ride out the storm of a volatile market and survive – and build for the future. Communication, dialogue, co-operation between different actors is more important than ever.

The key in brand strategy is to take a look from users’ point of view – how do they see and feel the brand. As the users i.e. customers are the key for the future of every company, brand strategy should be on the priority list of each and every board. Brand strategy should be a significant part of the entire company strategy parallel with vision, mission, values, target group and competitive edge.
We are proud and very pleased about agreeing today on partnership with the Port of Helsinki for 2020-2021.

Read his article "Future Directions - Dialogue Between Players Is Needed"
Customers' consumer behaviour is influenced by environmental factors, and growth is driven by online shopping. These changes are already seen in the demand for different forest industry products. The change in demand is also partly reflected in the market and has led into situations, where industries´ supply chains are becoming more long and complex.

Read her article "Medicines in Global Supply Chains - Responsible and Resilient Way"
Manufacturing medicines is consolidated into few places – China or India – it is usual that a drug with the same API is out of stock in different brand names by different companies. If something happens to the suppliers at the plant or upstream in the chain, the volumes get scarce and global competition for the material is ready. Finland, as a small country, have to be very active in these situations.
Today introducing Johan Hanstén, Area Sales Director, Marine Solutions from Wärtsilä Finland Oy. He is one of the round table workshop facilitators at the #SFAEM2020 Part I – 2.9.2020.
Read his article "Towards Decarbonisation and Cleaner Future"
Emission reductions, and especially GHG (greenhouse gas) reduction, is the challenge of the century for the maritime industry. Being the most efficient mode of transportation doesn’t mean that it’s an excuse for not acting. The industry has now recognised that in order to tackle climate change, shipping must make a significant contribution.

There are some good and comprehensive books on maritime logistics available internationally, but they are mainly written from the point of view of ocean transportation, and it might be challenging for a student to apply such theory in the Baltic Sea region.
