The winner team was Deltamarin with a Case: Utilisation of Total Cost of Ownership Model to Enhance Deltamarin’s Added Value. Team members Anna Lönnblad and Joonas Honkanen, from the Aalto University School of Business were awarded with a 3000€ check granted by the Finnish Shipowners´ Foundation. In addition the winners got to join an international program called 2017COMMUNICATORS KIT, a 10 weeks program guided by International Professionals offered by E52center.
The Finals of the #IntelligenceHunt1 project was held May 18th 2017 at the Heureka Science Centre in Finland. All together the Finals gathered around 80 participants, representatives of companies and students from 22 different nationalities.
There were 13 companies with cases and 38 international students. The student groups worked on the cases for 2 months and presented their solutions at the Finals. The outcome from their work surprised us all with innovativeness, great ambition and yet realistic approaches.

Distinguished Jury of the #IntelligenceHunt2 did not have an easy job to choose the winners.
The winner was Varova case and team Strategic Digi Leap and the first runner up MacGregor case and team Roll-on-Roll-off.
The winner team was awarded with a check of 3000€ granted by the Finnish Shipowners´ Foundation and the first runner up with a check of 1500€ granted by DFDS Group.
The #IntelligenceHunt2 Finals was held November 14th 2017 onboard M/S Silja Serenade at the Port of Helsinki.
There were 13 companies with cases and 85 students divided into 25 teams. The student teams worked on the cases in close co-operation with the companies for two months and presented their solutions at the Finals.
All together there were almost 200 participants representing 28 different nationalities.

IntelligenceHun2 Finals, November 14th, 2018
The winner was MacGregor Case Cargo Identifying & Tracking System with the team MacGregor Vikings.
The first runner-up was Arctech Helsinki Shipyard Case Improved Information and Material Handling in Shipbuilding Through IoT and the team S2V
The shared second runner-up Port of Helsinki Case Traffic Flow Optimisation Through Real-Time Traffic Data by team Smart Helsinki and Stena Line Case How to Improve the Ferry Turnaround Time in the Port by 10 Minutes? by team Aurora.
The #IntelligenceHunt3 Finals took place in Gothenburg, Sweden, at the Lindholmen Conference Centre, June 12th 2018.
The theme of the 3rd IntelliegenceHunt project was IoT & Sustainable Shipping and the teams focused on cargo and from the perspective of Intelligent Ports, which is a theme of SeaFocus in 2018. We had 10 companies and 70 students divided into 19 groups. The student groups worked on the cases in close co-operation with the companies for about two months and presented their solutions at the Finals.
An international student team YR Skincare Beauties Russia”with students originating from Bangladesh, Nigeria, Finland and Russia, won the whole competition with a case Yvonne Ryding Cosmetics Goes East – Case Study of a Market Entry Strategy to the Russian Market, Yvonne Ryding, the owner of Yvonne Ryding Cosmetics.
The theme of the #IntelligenceHunt4 project SCM our Way! We looked at letters SCM not as supply chain management only, but also from the angle of “Shipping and Customers’ Margins".
The Finals of the #IntelligenceHunt4 project took place on 14.11.2018 on board M/S Silja Symphony and Makasiini Terminals at the Port of Helsinki.
At the Finals we had 27 nationalities on stage; 37 students in 7 teams, 7 company cases and 9 inspiring speakers.
The winner team was HERMES, Chia Palkonen, Calvin Kho and Andre Holtkamp with case Wärtsilä, Vesa Marttinen and the first runner-up team B.E.S.T., Susanna Valenti, Jasmin Kaseva, Daniil Furman, Masha Tishkovskaya and Abubakar Hassan with case MacGregor.
The Finals was held June 7th 2019 in Oslo Norway, Nor-Shipping Trade Fair. The IntelligenceHunt concept made the stage shake and the boat rock with the theme "Blue Economy – Maritime Industry and Responsible Growth".
Altogether up to 40 students, 8 Case Company representatives, 8 cases and 10 inspiring speakers made a shipping show never seen before. The variety of company core businesses and future plans revealed, innovations and realistic “keep our feet a bit on the ground too” will show the audience and the Nor-Shipping visitors what our industry really can do, when we join the forces and remove the silos. A top-level jury of business professionals and maritime experts will give their final verdict and nominate the winner Company Case, the Case Companies and the student team.
The competition was tough!
The Winner of the IntelligenceHunt6 project was a Student Team AQUAMARINE with Pavel Kan, Victoria Stroilova, Iaana Borodulina and Vladislav Zegerov from the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, with the case Harbour2100 by Sweco.
The Finals of the 6th IntelligenceHunt was held in conjunction with the NaviGate2020 Maritime Trade Fair in Turku Finland, January 22, 2020. The theme of the project competition was "Future of Knowledge and Know-How in Marine Industries". This time we had ten international, cross-faculty student teams competing and ten case companies.
The Shipowners´ Foundation in Finland granted a Recognition Award of 2000 € to the team, which work was most impressive to them. Jussi Mälkiä, Chairman of the Foundation and a Jury Member of the competition, granted in person the Award to the Student Team MEGA MOVE CONSULTING, with an assignment by Meyer Turku Global Megatrends and Their Effects on Cruising and on the Technologies Used at Cruise Ships and the work was steered by Mr Kari Sillanpää, Head of R&D Meyer Turku. Chairman of the Board, Jussi Mälkiä, Shipowners’ Foundation in Finland: “The student team accomplished an excellent solution to the very current case assignment and at the Finals presented very well on stage.”
SeaFocus as an organiser of the whole company and student competition also wanted to grant a Recognition Award to the team, which work the management found the most professional throughout the project. The Recognition Award this time was an Invitation as Follower Participants to a high-level SeaFocus Annual Executive Meeting, which takes place April 22 in Helsinki, at the Hotel Kämp.
This Award was granted to the Student Team P.O.R.O. – Port of Raahe Organisation. P.O.R.O. was working on an assignment given by the Port of Raahe. The assignment was: Sustainable Ports Towards Future Challenges and the work was steered by Mr Kaarlo Heikkinen, the CEO of the Port of Raahe.
