The theme of the #IntelligenceHunt4 project SCM our Way! We looked at letters SCM not as supply chain management only, but also from the angle of “Shipping and Customers’ Margins.
The Finals of the #IntelligenceHunt4 project took place on 14.11.2018 on board M/S Silja Symphony and Makasiini Terminals at the Port of Helsinki.
We Finals consisted of 27 nationalities on stage; 37 students in 7 teams, 7 company cases and 9 inspiring speakers.

Ulla Keino´s over 30 years of experience of shipping started with Metsä Group in 1986, following a career of 8 years in the Stora Enso Group (former Enso Plc). During these years she was responsible of mainly short sea shipping and especially of internal waterway shipments of forest products, paper, paperboard, timber and pulp. She was an important customer for the German, Finnish and Russian shipowners and shipbrokers. She has held important positions in the several Finnish industries and governmental initiated projects related to forest industry logistics and governmental maritime infrastructure and development projects.

Frank Kho has over 20 years of industry experience in several senior management positions at world's leading port operators, such as the Antwerp terminals of PSA and several terminals of HPH. Mr. Kho has an outstanding track record in terminal management at leading ports throughout Europe and Asia, where he has championed operational efficiency, cost reduction strategies and terminal design.

Marcus Ejdersten has worked in the marine industry since his completing of his Master in Science at the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, in 2004. Since 2015 Marcus has lead MacGregor’s Strategic Marketing for the company’s extensive portfolio of solutions to the Marine and Offshore industries.

Purnachand Valluru is a masters degree student currently pursuing Msc. in International Business and Entrepreneurship at University of Jyväskylä, Finland. He finished his bachelors in BSc. Financial Management at the University of Essex, U.K. He also interned for various companies during his bachelors which are involved in finance, telecommunication and advertising. He was responsible for starting an e-commerce company with his partners which was an online platform which revolutionised the home-improvement and construction industry online. He was also an active participant of Intelligence hunt since the beginning and now he is doing his master's thesis with Tallink Silja on improving the cargo check-in of their ships at various Baltic ports.

Manuel Kronseder is a former two-time Intelligence Hunt finalist. He has worked for example in one of the biggest producers of premium cars but was also a consultant for a global leader of water management systems for the maritime industry. His studies brought him to Finland and now he is working as an Engineer at the leading global developer and supplier of technologies, automation and services for paper and energy industries. He has a M.Sc in automotive engineering from the Technische Universität Ilmenau in Germany.

In 1984 Yvonne Ryding was persuaded to stand up in the Miss Sweden Competition, a competition that Yvonne won, why she represented Sweden in the Miss Universe Contest that was the year in Miami, Florida, which she also won. One year followed by international travel, and acting as ambassador for women, being a spokesperson for a number of well-known brands as well as being active in charity work. Pekka Vauramo, President and CEO of Finnair as of 1 June 2013. He joined Finnair from Cargotec, a Finnish cargo and load handling company, where he held different management position between 2007 and 2013. Before his transfer to Finnair, Mr Vauramo was based in Hong Kong since 2010 as COO of the MacGregor Business Area. Between 1985 and 2007 he worked at Sandvik, a Swedish mining and construction company. Mr Vauramo also serves as a member of the Board of Glaston PLC (since 2011) and the Board of Boliden Group (since 2016).

Ville Björk has more than 10 years of work experience in the field of shipping and logistics. He has completed a BBA degree in International Logistics from Helsinki Arcada UAS and an MBA in Maritime Shipping and Logistics from Copenhagen Business School. For the past five years, Ville has been appointed to the position of Operations Manager at C&C Port Agency Finland’s head office in Helsinki and as an agent for various traffic forms, vessel types and owners. Presently he is engaged in developing C&C Port Agency Finland’s electronic interface and further enhancing the company’s value proposition for their cruise and passenger ship principals.

Tom O Kleppestø has been the General Manager of Shipping & Offshore Network since 2008 and Secretary to the Board of Oslo Shipowners’ Association since 2010. He took over as General Manager of Ocean Industry Forum Oslofjord in January 2018 - forming Maritime Oslofjord. Mr Kleppestø established and ran the Maritime Trainee Programme for the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association 2004-2017. He was also responsible for the development and implementation of the association’s top executive programme Marex from 2010 to 2016, together with academic partner Duke University in the USA. He is also currently working to establish a Centre for Ocean Business (OBZ) at BI Norwegian Business School together with professor Torger Reve.

Antti Jussila has 14 years of experience in infrastructure design. He has mostly dealt with bridge design projects including project management and expert tasks. One of the highlights in Mr Jussila’s career so far has been the Ring Road III upgrade in Helsinki area including more than 30 bridges and other structures. Project was completed on time and under budget! He was responsible for bridge and structural design in this 110M€ project. At Sweco Mr Jussila´s responsibility is to expand infrastructure business to international markets, like ports and marine structures. Sweco has a strong global competence in marine field.

Marina Hasselblatt has been working in the cargo business since 1993. Today she is in charge of cargo sales activities as well as the TallinkSilja Cargo booking and check-in offices in Helsinki and Turku. As she herself started here cargo career in the booking office, the development of booking and check-in routines are very close to her heart. When Tallink, Superfast and Silja Line joined forces in 2006 she built up a common central Cargo booking office in Helsinki. Ms Hasselblatt is constantly trying to find more sustainable and effective solutions to the operations.

Ulla Tapaninen has over 25 years of experience in logistics and transport research and development work with dozens of academic and professional publications to her name. She has worked for ten years as a development manager and environmental manager for Finnlines plc. In 2006-2012 she worked as a professor of maritime logistics in the University of Turku specialising in maritime and port operations, safety and IT. She has worked as a researcher, project director and board member in dozens of national and EU-funded projects in the areas of maritime and land transportation, logistics information handling and transportation safety and environment. She is a board member of ESL Shipping since 2012.

Blasco Majorana with his 13 years experience in the shipping sector has developed competences in fleet management, liner service configuration and asset optimisation. Previously he worked nine years at the Grimaldi Group in Naples-Itlay, of which Finnlines is a daughter company. Henri Paukku is the Director for Cooperation & Funding at MacGregor R&D and Technology since 2016. Throughout his 19 years of professional career, Henri Paukku has always worked within the shipping industry. Prior to his current position he was in charge of Product platform development and services development in MacGregor Cargo Handling Division.

Dr Rolf Neise is currently working as a freelance consultant supporting multinational companies to optimise their supply chain management and logistics structures and as a lecturer at the International School of Management (ISM). He has just written a book for a well-known international publisher on integrating container logistics into the shippers’ supply chain. It is the first book on the market looking at container logistics from a shipper’s perspective. Prior to that Mr Neise was working as the Global Head of Logistics Operations at BAT (British American Tobacco plc.), in charge of defining BAT’s Logistics Strategy in the End-to-End Supply Chain. Mr Neise majored in economic engineering at the Technical University Berlin and wrote his doctoral thesis on transport logistics at the University of Stuttgart.

Saiful Islam received his B.Sc. in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2008 from Khulna University, Bangladesh.
